IRIS Nights : Davis Factor (9/1)

The grandson of cosmetic legend Max Factor, Davis Factor began shooting after receiving his first camera at the age of 13. Factor honed his craft at the Art Center where he worked with Kookan and Gilles Bensimon.... In 1990, Factor founded Smashbox Studios. He has also created a modeling agency, beauty agency specializing in representing hair & makeup artists and stylists and also formed Smashbox Cosmetics... After selling Smashbox Cosmetics to Estée Lauder, Davis now serves as the Head of Creative Worldwide for the cosmetic powerhouse. He is currently in the process of finishing his first book, Shoot from the Hip, which will provide a glimpse into his journey as a photographer, entrepreneur and creative pioneer.

Next week's IRIS Nights lecture series will present Davis Factor at the Annenberg Space for Photography. The event is free and passes available Wed at noon and Thursday at 9:30 am here.

  1. Will he be discussing how he would have his assistants go into the studios at Smashbox and photograph the lighting setups of other photographers so he could use them? Not an original idea in that guys head....ever.

  2. @the 1st comment. Um really. When did he do that and who did he do it to. Please site specifics before you make general accusations. You sound like a hater/loser.
