The LA Art Show doubles its size and partners with a broader range of exhibitors — more than 150 this year — as it heads downtown to the Convention Center. The four-day art bonanza also hosts the 24th Annual Los Angeles Fine Print Fair, bringing in excess of 15,000 paintings, sculptures, photographs, drawings, and prints from antiquity to the present day. Also under the show's umbrella is Supersonic 2009, a student-run exhibit featuring the work of MFA candidates from SoCal's most acclaimed fine-art graduate programs, and ground zero for the early buzz on the stars of the next generation. - Tanja Laden
Note: Wednesday night's opening gala benefits LACMA, the Environmental Media Association and Inner City Arts.
