Mike will explain his approach to photographing at Machu Picchu, providing a historical context through imagery and music that captures the visceral experience of being at the Incan citadel. Mike will also discuss how he took the vision behind this work and created the book, “Stone Offerings, Machu Picchu’s Terraces of Enlightenment,” winner of the 2010 Benjamin Franklin Award for best Arts book.

Renée Jacobs and Calethia DeConto examine light and movement through the relationship between form and environment. + CLOSING : Skydreamers exhibition @ The Autry in Griffith Park 4700 Western Heritage Way Los Angeles, CA 90027-1462

Flight gave us perspective. Photography made it real. When the pioneers of flight conquered the air, it was possible for the first time to look down at the Earth—to perceive its curving horizon, witness its smallness. And as new technologies made flight possible, the new medium of photography captured this remarkable journey. Skydreamers uses more than 150 primarily photographic images to chart the story of the men and women who, from the 1700s through the Space Age, made this incredible leap of faith.
