One Thousand Pictures: RFK's Last Journey

As Bobby Kennedy’s body was transported by train from New York to Washington D.C. following his assassination in 1968, Magnum photographer Paul Fusco captured indelible images of the thousands of mourners that lined the rail tracks to pay their respects.

One Thousand Pictures combines stunning archive footage with contemporary interviews with many of the people caught in Fusco’s lens that day. The effect is a powerful and deeply moving account of a divided America, a country whose hopes and dreams of an egalitarian future died with Kennedy’s passing. A stunning photojournalistic portrait of the era.

HBO will be broadcasting the documentary "One Thousand Pictures : R.F.K's Last Journey" on June 8th 8 pm. If you are in New York, Aperture will be hosting a panel discussion with director Jennifer Stoddart, photographer Paul Fusco and gallertist James Danziger on Monday night June 6 @ 6:30 pm at their location. Free.
