Rick Nahmias "Golden State of Grace" reception (9/23)

First Congregational Church of Los Angeles (FCCLA) will host the Los Angeles premiere of Golden States of Grace: Prayers of the Disinherited, a multimedia photo exhibit from September 23-November 13, 2011. This will mark the first time the exhibit will be shown in a sacred space, and will be the homecoming of the exhibit for photographer & writer Rick Nahmias.

By giving image and voice to some of California’s marginalized religious groups, Golden States of Grace seeks to make the invisible visible, shedding light on such groups as Zen Buddhists at San Quentin Prison, a San Francisco-based transgendered gospel choir, Muslims who escaped Khmer Rouge’s Cambodian genocide, a Hindu ashram that cares for those with HIV/AIDS, a
halfway house for recovering Jewish addicts, and more.

The grand opening reception will be held this Friday Sept 23, 2011 with the photographer Rick Nahmias as well as some of inspiring subjects showcased in the exhibition.
