Ultimately for me, these photographs underscore the silence permeating the unsung heroism of gay and lesbian military personnel. The photos are about the men and women who continue to fight and serve despite the heartbreaking invisibility they suffer.

I first heard of Jeff Sheng's project via the Los Angeles Times late in 2009. Local printer/lab A&I helped put together his first book "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and just in June, he spoke at an APA event @ Smashbox Studios. Speaking of APA, if you are a member, you're invited to a members only walk-through at Kaycee Olsen gallery a day before the opening on Friday the 17th 6-8 pm.
