Melvin Sokolsky - Talk + Opening (4/16)

Now every kid out of school has a camera and a computer that displays a histogram that instantly evaluates the proper exposure for the image in question. In light of these great tools, I see very few photographers who can create images that in my opinion are worth considering. It is only those Photographers who have ideas and vision that make great pictures. Technical expertise is not the passport to the land of great images; without the idea you have nothing.

This upcoming Saturday Melvin Sokolsky will be giving an artist talk @ Orange Coast College's Robert B. Moore Theatre at 2:30 pm followed by the opening reception held over at Frank M. Doyle Art Pavilion (on the same campus) from 6-9 pm. His latest book Melvin Sokolsky - Archive will available also. In addition, Jennifer Rocholl and Janice Lowry will have their images on exhibit in the Projects Room. More info at the Orange Coast College Photography Dept. site. RSVP to the talk at : rsvpsokolsky@monthofphotography.com
