Streetwise: Masters of 60’s Photography (2/5)

Streetwise: Masters of 60’s Photography highlights nine photographers intent on redefining the nation based on what they saw in the turbulent time of the 1960’s. This realistic, sometimes dire, view of America ranges from the “outlaw culture” of bikers and chain gangs; Boston’s red light district known as the Combat Zone; Black Panthers; the gritty streets and neighborhoods of New York; the politically charged South; to the darker sub-cultures photographed by Diane Arbus. Photographers include Robert Frank, Diane Arbus, Lee Friedlander, Jerry Berndt, Ruth-Marion Baruch, Garry Winogrand, Bruce Davidson, Danny Lyon and Ernest Withers.

Exhibition runs February 5 - May 15, 2011

On Feb 5, art critic, Andy Grundberg and featured photographer, Jerry Berndt will be giving a talk about the exhibition at 11 am. Later on April 8th at 7 pm, Bruce Davidson will be giving an artist talk. Tickets available here.
