Unsilent Night 2009 (12/10)

After three years in the Fairfax District, this Thursday (10/12) Unsilent Night 2009 hits the Downtown Art Walk. The concept is simple - just watch the video from the NY one last year.

"In previous years, we have had anywhere from about 100 to 250 participants. This will be the first time we are going through neighborhoods with unknowing spectators. I expect we'll get passersby who are interested and plenty who will just glance our way and walk on. I first walked 'Unsilent Night' in New York City in 2003. I was planning a move to L.A., and I knew this would be such an event that most Angelenos would never get to experience -- so I wanted to bring it to this city and make it accessible." - Behnoosh Khalili

Participants will meet at the Spring Street Arcade Building at 7:45 p.m. to receive the music. The event will begin at 8:00 p.m.

If you would like to participate and have a portable boombox or Mp3 player with speakers, e-mail UnsilentNightLA@gmail.com to receive a CD, cassette tape, or Mp3 of a piece of the orchestration. All music is distributed for free. If you do not have a boombox, you are still an important part of the procession, breathing greater life into this human stereo system.

UNSILENT NIGHT Los Angeles will also be accepting a voluntary donation of $1 for the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, a nonprofit organization providing food to needy and disadvantaged people throughout Los Angeles County.
