He will also be available at a new location by appointment only.

Over 3000 titles will be on sale for up to 75% off. Hundreds of historic photographs and regional ephemera will be greatly discounted.

Owner Michael Dawson will still retain his book and photo appraisal business as well as his on-line business for fine art and historical photography. Since 1905, Dawson’s Bookshop has been a leading source in Southern California for rare and out of print books in the fields of California history, Western Americana and photography. In fact, Dawson’s is the oldest continuously operating bookshop in the city of Los Angeles. Ernest Dawson started the shop in downtown Los Angeles. After three moves downtown and a transfer of ownership to the second generation of Glen and Muir Dawson, the shop settled on Larchmont Boulevard in the Hollywood/Hancock Park area in 1968. Michael Dawson marks the third generation of the Dawson family to helm this Los Angeles treasure.

Also closing will be the Michael Dawson Gallery. A central focus of the Larchmont Village location, the Michael Dawson Gallery spacious exhibition area highlighted a photographic inventory of fine, vintage photographs by artists such as Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, and Adam Clark Vroman. The gallery displayed work by an exciting group of contemporary photographers including Kaucyila Brooke, Judy Dater, Scott B. Davis, Karen Halverson, Yuichi Hibi, Ken Rosenthal, Kim Stringfellow and Roger Vail.
