Two openings tonight...

The first from 6-9 pm is over in Venice is the 2010 Alternative Photography Exhibit

The annual competition and exhibit, now in its seventh year, is one of our favorites at Julia Dean’s. A wide variety of capture processes are represented, using anything from pinhole and toy cameras to new digital capture techniques. Alternative prints processes may include cyanotypes, platinum & palladium, Polaroid transfers & emulsion lifts, gum prints, collodion wet plate process, and the use of liquid light. Almost anything goes, though the judges reserve the right to decide what alternative means.

Brad Buckman won first place and you'll see works from Linda Alterwitz, Roxanne Guez, Greg Mettler, Allan Barnes, Maura Brennan, Christine Caldwell, Lee Corkett, Karen Florek, Larry Hirshowitz, Joshua MacCracken, Liv Naesheim, Becky Ramotowski, Jessica Reinhardt ,Lisha Aquino Rooney ,Marjorie Salvaterra and Dick Sanders

Meanwhile over in Highland Park from 7-10 pm, This Los Angeles is hosting the opening reception to “EXPOSED” : A Photography Exhibition for Breast Cancer Awareness and Research with photography from Jaime Beechum, Lauren Dukoff Brandon Harman, Michael de Leon, Angela Kohler ,David Bornfriend, Chris McPherson ,Mike Piscitelli ,Louise Sturgess, Jimmy Fontaine and Magdalena Wosinska

And for more group show goodies, tomorrow night is the 2010 Vice Photo Show over in Culver City from 7-10 pm with work by Angela Boatwright, Asger Carlsen, Jonnie Craig, Jackson Eaton, Seth Fluker, Nicholas Haggard, Jerry Hsu, Kevin Long, Ross McDonnell, Sophie Mörner, Patrick O’Dell, Alex Olson, Valerie Phillips, Jared Ritz, Lele Saveri, RJ Shaugnessy, David Benjamin Sherry, Peter Sutherland, Patrick Tsai, Sean Vegezzi and Gavin Watson.
