"When I shot in the 70's, people hadn't seen photos like that ... " - Wynn Miller
Friday night after "Polaroid Hotel", I hear from a friend that there was a closing party for Wynn Miller. In the 70s he photographed Tony Alva and created some of the iconic images of Avla from that time. So I headed down there to check it out. I wished I knew about the opening - bet it was a blast but with the crowd not as packed, i had a chance to take a look at Wynn's photographs.
"The Detournements of Wynn Miller" will feature some of the art world's greatest contemporary talents including: Shepard Fairey, Eric Monson, Mark Gonzales, Nate Frizzell, Chloe Trujillo, Robert Trujillo, Axis, Jon Chase, Dennis McNett, Lauren Bergman, Richard Villa III, Nazrn, Shawn Barber, Votan, Michael Ruiz, and Jeff Ho. Each artist will be painting their version of a Wynn Miller photograph.
