IRIS NIGHTS : Eli Reed (10/8)

Photo : David Hobby

“If you really love what you’re doing, you’re going to advance. It comes down to that, because you can’t get into it because you’re worrying about how much money you’re going to make or if anybody’s going to like you or not.”

This Thursday, Eli Reed will be at Annenberg Space for Photography's Thursday night lecture series, IRIS NIGHTS. I started to research Eli and realized he had a done a lot... running through his resume is just amazing. Magnum photographer since 1983. Has worked for several charities such as Save Our Children and Doctors Without Borders as well as photographed for Life and National Geographic. New York Times, NewsWeek, Washington Post and others.

Collected a few awards along the way such as W. Eugene Smith Grant, Kodak World Image Award, World Press Award, Leica Medal of Excellence , Nieman Fellowship at Harvard, Pulitzer Prize, runner-up among many. Published two books "Black in America" and "Beirut: City of Regrets" as well as even doing production stills for Ron Howard, Spike Lee and Robert Altman. Besides that he even lectures and is currently teaches at the School of Journalism at The University of North Texas.

The event is currently fully booked but they do a stand-by list.... I'm thinking I might have to take a trip to Century City this Thursday.....
