Smashbox Face Off (Due Nov 27th)

Ah yes, I remember Face Off when it was known as the Smashbox Assistant Show many many moons ago - I submitted back in 2000 or so and did so for some years after that. In the early 2000s I remember they actually had live bands outside and DJs inside - alas, my memory doesn't remember much from that time period - perhaps too many vodka tonics ?

In recent years, they've changed it slightly to Face Off competition where it was more of a judged competition. Previously you just have to submit as early as possible to nab one of the spaces.

This year there is no guidelines to what concept. Just submit your best work. 50 will be selected and one will win a million dollars....okay, no one wins a million - just seeing who's paying attention :)

The due date is November 27 and you can submit up to three images on CD. 13x19 vertical or horizontal, your choice.

Questions ? Bug them over at yellow@smashboxstudios.com

Mail the CDs to Smashbox Face Off 2009 1011 N. Fuller Ave WeHo CA 90046.

FACE OFF PHOTO COMPETITION 2009
(Fashion / Advertising / Celebrity / Editorial)

The Smashbox FACE OFF has featured the talent of up-and-coming photographers for over 14 years. Originally concieved to give photo assistants a chance to show their work, the FACE OFF has evolved into a catalyst for young creatives seeking exposure. This year’s competition will assemble an eclectic panel of high-profile judges to select 50 entries that will be in contention for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place. The entries will be judged based on creative excellence alone and exhibited on December 3rd during our FACE OFF Opening Night Bash.

Guess I gotta get busy now...hmm....which images should I submit.....

  2. i wonder about the profile, though... it's said that all entries will be judged by creative excellence only (whatever that means). i checked in with some steven-meisel-style shots, wish me luck.
