Omar Yashruti "The North" (10/22)

I really like the exhibitions that Perfect Exposure Gallery on 6th St. is showcasing this year. It's a small spot over in Koreatown and it focuses more on photo-journalism but I believe this spot to be a hidden treasure here in the city. I'm not sure how long it is been there but when I moved here in '99 it was there.

The Perfect Exposure Gallery, will exhibit the work of Palestinian/Irish photographer Omar Yashruti. Yashruti first infiltrated his mother's homeland amidst the violent resistance, bombings, and police state of the 70's. In 2005 he returned, camera in hand, and began documenting daily life.

In the flux between black and white and color, disintegrating borders and continuing segregation, living and the stark pull of place and time, The North reveals the cultural battlefields of Northern Ireland after The Troubles.

The first two images I found at Omar's site on Ireland here. Last image is from The Perfect Gallery's website.

October 22nd 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
