New Topographics : Photographs of a Man-Altered Landscape

Mark Ruwedel on New Topographics

As many of y'all already know, "New Topographics : Photographs of a Man-Altered Landscape" is currently on display at LACMA but what I didn't know (and missed) was that LACMA had arranged the photographers to give a walk-through and talk about their work on Sundays. Alas, the first started just this past Sunday with Mark Ruwedel but no worries, you still have a chance to catch three more :

Amir Zaki (11/8)
Peter Holzhauer (11/15)
Shannon Ebner (11/22).

Free with ticket to the exhibit. Held on Sundays, 2 pm at BCAM, Level 2

INFO

Also on Saturday, November 7th at 11 am, LACMA will host a symposium "What's at Stake? New Topographics: Photography and the Man-Altered Landscape" with speakers Matthew Coolidge, Douglas Crimp, Norman Klein, Philipp Kaiser, Richard Meyer, Christopher Hawthorne, and LACMA curators Britt Salvesen and Edward Robinson. In the morning they'll be discussing the question of curatorial reenactment and in the afternoon talk of learning from New Topographics.
