Monday Briefs

+ Entertaining little piece done by Art Center film student Francis Pollara, along with fellow students Saman Keshavarz, Y-C Tom Lee and Romson Niega, which recently won a College Television Emmy Award for a commercial they produced called “Trigger Happy”. What's up with that shot of a Canon Rebel XTi flash firing with a lens cap on ?

+ If you're curious about learning about your 5DII or 7D, Bel Air Camera in Westwood is offering free seminars on May 8th.

+ If you're currently taking courses at UCLA Extension Studio Arts, Photography or Design Communication Arts courses, there's a call for entry for their "It's Your Show". Due date is June 1st. Details here.

+ Found a local blog with photos from behind the scenes of Ben Watt's shoot. All I can say is, he's using a RED camera and what is he exactly shooting ?

+ This Wed (4/21), A&I Hollywood is doing another of their bookmaking seminar. Free from 6:30-8 pm and you get a chance to learn about A&I Books. Then on Saturday morning, ICON lab is hosting "Website 101 with Daniel Sofer"

+ Really enjoying the new series "Ask Anything" on A Photo Editor.

+ This upcoming weekend is gonna be crazy. Besides the LAT Festival of Books at UCLA, there's Saturday afternoon line of events at Pier 59 West plus a few openings - Catherine Opie, Jeff Antbi, Michael Light among others. Check out our calendar to get the links. I'm torn between the Panel Talk on self-publishing at Pier 59 West and hearing Los Angeles Times' photographer Francine Orr speak at UCLA's Festival of Books - both are about the same time.
