Timeless : Photos by Eric Coleman and B+ (4/28)

These two here are legends in the local music community. I first heard of Brian Cross (B+) in the late 90s of his photography book "It's Not About a Salary... Rap, Race and Resistance in Los Angeles" that was released in the early 90s. Eric Coleman, I met at PIX in the early 00's and knew him as a photographer and one of the DJs for Firecracker that used to be at Grand Star in Chinatown. Both form their own production company called Mochila.

For cats old enough and in the scene, will probably recognized "Keepintime" from 2000. Their latest is "Timeless"
Timeless: The Composer/Arranger Series is the name of a concert series that was created in homage to the composer/arrangers who have influenced hip-hop in the most literal and profound ways. Timeless was conceived by production house Mochilla in Los Angeles during February and March 2009 and included the performances of over 150 musicians in front of ecstatic sold out crowds. These three historic events were recorded and filmed in exacting detail with Mochilla's unmistakable style.

This Wednesday, B+ and Eric Coleman will show a selection of photographs that inspired"Timeless". 7-10 pm. For those interested to hear more, the Timeless tour hits downtown Los Angeles on May 1st @ Downtown Independent 251 South Main Street Los Angeles, CA 90012.
