:: FRIDAY ::

+ L.A. in Wien/Wien in L.A., works by Hitoshi Abe, Peter Cook, Zaha Hadid, Thom Mayne and Eric Owen Moss at SCI-Arc, opens today. SCI-Arc Library Gallery, 960 E. 3rd Street, 2nd Floor, Los Angeles, CA 90013. 7-9 pm. INFO

+ Vera Lutter reception @ Gagosian Gallery 6-8 pm. The artist’s first exhibition in Los Angeles features unique large-scale photographs, captured by use of the camera obscura and presented so as to retain the negative of the image. The resulting image depicts a hauntingly surreal environment and calls into question the basic perceptual relationship between image and reality.INFO


:: SATURDAY ::

+ APA/LA is having Summertime Social 2:30-6:30 pm @ Redgum Creative Campus 2983 E. Miraloma Avenue Anaheim, CA.

APA SUMMER PARTY for APA Families and their guests. Free food, Swimming in the heated pool (86 degrees today using only solar heating) Meet up with old friends and make new friends. Bring your suit, your beach chair, and fun attitude.

Free to all APA members + (1) adult guest + kids. (you must pre-register or face the $10 entrance fee at the door)

Non APA members are invited and encouraged to come, but there is a $10 per non-member entrance fee.

+ Over at the Annenberg Space for Photography, the Steve Curry talk is currently filled but there might be an on-call line. 6:30 - 8 pm.

+ The 2009 Vice Magazine Photography Exhibition... This year's exhibition features Vice contributors Jamie Lee Curtis Taete, Maggie Lee, and former Vice photo editor, Tim Barber. Opening reception : 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. at the Scion Installation L.A. Space. The reception is free with complimentary valet parking and an open bar for those that are 21 and up INFO

+ Art Deco Society of Los Angeles presents Art Deco & Costume Design in Film @ The Egyptian. 2 pm.
