RETNA "Desaturated" (3/20)

Okay, I usually don't post items not photography-related but I'll do it for this guy. So five years ago I moved into a space in downtown Los Angeles with another photographer and a group of street artists - RETNA was one of the guys. In his early days, he would take Bebe bus shelter ads and paint over it. Later on he and a photographer would collaborate on a piece - the photographer would shoot the model, RETNA would do his work over it.

This weekend, he'll have his solo exhibition "Desaturated" over at New Image Gallery on Santa Monica Blvd. March 20th 7-10 pm

More of his work after the jump.

Here's some of his earlier works I remember from those early days.

And here's one of his more recent work. A friend of mine complains how he wished he could afford RETNA's work 5 years ago (at that time it was about $3,000). Today for the same piece, it is probably closer to $10,000.
